Stretching on your own is a start, but there's a world of difference between a self-taught stretch and one guided by someone who knows the ins and outs of human movement.

What are Stretching & Recovery Sessions?

Stretching & Recovery sessions are individual 60 or 30 minute appointments led by our, 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500) who guides you through targeted stretches and provides hands-on adjustments to help you improve your flexibility.

Sessions also incorporate relaxing breath work to calm the mind, decrease stress & help improve overall recovery.

The one-on-one guidance provided can’t be found in a group class or from an online video and ensures you are doing the right stretches for your body while reducing pain, decreasing injury risk and helping you live & perform at your best!

If you're going to take time out of your day to improve your mobility, doing it alongside an expert can help make sure you're making the MOST out of your time  because you won’t waste 20 minutes finding the right video only to wonder if you’re even doing it correctly. A personalized stretching & recovery session with an expert will consider your personal areas of tightness and tailor each move accordingly.

Stretching and Recovery - Instructor at Functional Physio

Born and raised in South Florida, Segovia has been studying classical yoga for 13 years. From a young age, she was drawn to a more spiritual way of living and what began as a passion in modern dance, turned into a life-long discipline when she began studying Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in Los Angeles, California under the strict guidance of her teacher. Although it is Ashtanga Vinyasa which informs Segovia teaching style, she is a firm believer in the practice of yoga being rooted in therapeutics and is able to adapt to the needs of each client she works with. 

During her studies at YogaWorks in Santa Monica, California Segovia was trained in all styles and disciplines including (but not limited to) Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Yin Yoga, pre and post-natal and therapeutics. She has worked with all kinds of students from absolute beginners to advanced practitioners; beginners being her favorite of all students to train. 

Yoga dramatically changed Segovia's mental, emotional and physical resilience and like most yogis, her passion lies in sharing this dynamic resilience with others! When she is not at work, teaching or practicing yoga, Segovia can be found perusing a local bookstore or lost in a book as she is an avid reader and bookworm! Her favorite reads are that of literary fiction, yogic philosophy and religious studies of all kinds.

  • Yes, but it's yoga with a focus on you. We use yoga poses to help improve your flexibility and movement and to bring you a sense of calm. Whether you’re here to stretch, get stronger, or relax, our sessions are personalized to meet your needs, making sure you get the benefits of yoga without the focus on spirituality.

  • Each session will incorporate gentle breathing aimed at calming you mind & body. The breathing may be incorporated during stretching or done on it’s own at the beginning or end.

  • Absolutely! Each sessions meets you where you’re in order to make sustained progress over time.

  • If you have an acute injury we recommend seeing one of our physical therapists for a full evaluation, however many of our PT clients also participate in stretching & recovery sessions alongside physical therapy for amazing results! Segovia works closely with our PTs as a team.

  • Absolutely! You will never be pushed to do something painful during your session and utilizing yoga- like techniques & breath work has been shown to be beneficial for overcoming chronic pain.

  • Yes! We know virtual sessions offer more convenience & flexibility (pun intended) and are happy to offer this option!

  • Your first session will start with your instructor asking you a few questions about your goals, injury history and current exercise routine. She will then take you through an assessment to identify your areas for improvement. She will start to work with you on these areas on day 1 and then will discuss personalized a plan for future sessions

  • Commitment to regular sessions will allow you to see the most benefit and continued progress. However, we have clients who come anywhere from 2-3 times per week, to 1-2 times per month. Additionally some clients choose to come leading up to a specific event or race in order to be in the best possible shape!

  • No. While we do offer physical therapy, Stretching & Recovery Sessions are not considered physical therapy and are not eligible for insurance reimbursement.

  • No - we don’t do this because we feel it decreases the value of the session and want to provide each client with education, stretches & guided breath-work that isn’t accessible outside of individual sessions. Massage guns can feel amazing but this is something you can easily perform on yourself at home. We are happy to provide you recommendations on what muscles to use it on & how to use it!

  • You can pay for Stretching & Recovery Session with an HSA card. You may be able to pay with an FSA card, but typically these have more regulations so it’s best to check with your FSA provider in case additional paperwork is needed.

  • Yes! If you have a friend or family member you would like to do sessions with pease contact us for more information! Please note, in order to keep sessions personalized we do not allow more than 2 people per session.
